2026/27 GIRLS EVALUATION PRACTICE REGISTRATION IS OPEN!
Starting this fall, the selection process for our winter girls teams has changed. We will not be holding two nights of tryouts in October. Instead we will run evaluation practice sessions starting in September. These will be at Tukes Valley Middle School Mondays and Wednesdays 5-7pm. The first session will be September 2nd and last session will be October 7th. Players hoping to play on one of our fall/winter teams should plan on attending as many of these sessions as possible. There will be a $25 nonrefundable fee to attend these evaluation sessions due at first session attended. We will be working on basic to advanced skills as well as scrimmages at these sessions so coaches can determine players that are skilled, dedicated and will be able to play on a competitive team. There is no gaurantee to be selected for a team. Players are not required to attend all sessions, but should plan on participating in as many as possible.
Common reasons for not being selected for a Team:
- Not proficiant at skill level required for competitive teams
- Not enough players at a particular grade level to form a team.
- Basketball is not the players priority fall/winter sport.
Our coaches focus on skills required to play competitive basketball in a tournament enviornment and seek players that dedicate the fall and winter to become better basketball players. We prepare our players to enter the 9th grade ready to compete at the high school level. We work with Battle Ground HS coaches to make sure our goals as coaches align with theirs. Our program is proud to focus on soley future BGSD athletes attending one of the two district high schools. Our players will be playing with their future high school teammates! We encourage all players to attend evaluations. We may have options for less skilled players that do not get selected for a competitive team!
The 2026/27 BG Select girls winter season will look like this:
September through early October – Player evaluation sessions Monday/Wednesdays 5-7pm Tukes Valley MS.
Mid October – Team assignments, parent meeting, uniform orders, tentative season calendar, season practices begin.
Mid October through November – practice 2 nights a week, tournaments start.
December through February – Practice 3 nights a week, Tournaments including end of season Seaside event (usually mid to late February)
March 12-14th 2027 – Middle School Girls State Tournament in Spokane (If qualified). Our number one goal for season is to attend this tournament.
March , 2027 TBD – End of season party
Players/parents should expect a tournament every other weekend on average. But we can play back to back weekends as well. Practices start 2 nights a week and usually run 3 nights a week starting in December. We will also be practicing a few days over winter break. The normal season will wrap up with a Seaside tournament in February, which involves overnight stay. If one of our teams qualify’s, we plan on entering the State Tourney in Spokane in March as long as we have the enough committed players.
Cost to play a BG Select season: We try to keep the cost down for players/parents. We are all volunteers from board members to our coaches. We put all fees collected towards our teams and our players. But there are many things that need to be considered before this years player cost can be determined. Some of these include rising gym rental and insurance costs, uniforms, tournament fees and number of players and teams. For this reason we can not finalize the player fee at this time and may need to increase the fee. The fee will be determined by the end of evaluations in early October.
